Chunky Panday reveals the profession his daughter Ananya Panday wanted to take before becoming an actress, and how he feels about the imminent break in career due to the pandemic that his daughter has suffered from.
Ananya Panday made an impressive film debut in 2019 with Student Of The Year 2 opposite Tiger Shroff and fellow debutante Tara Sutaria. The same year, she bagged and was seen in her second film as well, Pati Patni Aur Woh with Kartik Aaryan and Bhumi Pednekar. She was also seen opposite Ishaan Khatter in Khaali Peeli last year. The actress has signed multiple projects like Shakun Batra’s next with Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi and Vijay Devarakonda’s Hindi debut, the pan-Indian film Liger.
Ananya seems to be on a good momentum, but did you know that not too long ago, the actress had completely different plans for her career? She must be a successful actress today, but Ananya’s father Chunky Panday reveals that a few years ago, her priorities were a bit different. “Four years ago, Ananya wanted to become a doctor for dogs, a veterinarian. But she ended up becoming a heroine,” her father shares.
Chunky is immensely proud of the path that his elder daughter has paved for herself in this industry, but ask the actor if he rues the fact that Ananya had to suffer a career break due to the pandemic when she was already on such a roll and he shares, “It’s brought a break in everyone’s career and it’s been very unfortunate for the whole world. I just pray for the whole world to heal and become okay.”
The actor admits that Ananya was doing really well when everything came to a sudden halt. “As a child, even she must be feeling that her youth is going, but she is very lucky that she started very young. Everyone has lost this one-and-a-half years and they would have to forget that. But she worked in the lockdown too on Shakun Batra’s film with Deepika. I feel bad for her for the time she has missed, but I am sure she will make up for it in some way or the other,” he says confidently.
Raving about his daughter as a proud father, Chunky asserts, “Ananya is a very excited person, who just wants to do things. What has to happen tomorrow, she wants it to have happened yesterday. She is very impatient about the things she wants, and for sure, she will gain this lost time.”
